I've often thought figs are rather overpriced considering how easy they are to grow from cuttings so I wanted to give a shout out to the source of these:

Hot Plant Company https://www.hpchg.co.uk/f.php is selling a range of varieties in 9cm pots for £3.69 a throw. I went for:
Adam, Brown Turkey, Brunswick, Precose de dalmatie, White Adriatic, Panachee and Violette Dauphine. I'll let you know how thye come along.

I'd like to have a look at the website but my computer is issuing a warning sign "proceed with caution" when I type it in. The link on their FB page also has the ? sign.

Interesting. I'm not getting that and our computers are best described as "highly sensitive" to those issues normally!

Must be mine then...being picky. I'm on an Apple if that makes any difference.

I'll ignore it and go on the site anyway. Thank you for the reassurance

Apples and figs just don't get on, one of the biggest rivalries in the fruit world, goes back to Adam and Eve...

Related note: the variety "Adam" is apparently so-called because it has larger leaves to allow one more modesty....

I love figs. I'm not sure how they will like salt winds but I'm tempted to try a few different varieties. A friend of mine has a large tree and she is not that far from the beach. How quickly do they grow and more importantly fruit?

In our old garden it was about 3 years (bit bigger than tai's though) in our current environment (much more exposed plus regular rabbit damage) it's been 7 and no figs yet

I'll just have to keep turning up at friend's house towards the end of the season when she is absolutely sick of them.

Or be very, very patient.

Thought in light of this comment it was worth posting this:

This is one of 4 figs forming on one of the pencils I posted a pic of in October 14.

and this is the fig nursery now:

the one in the front is the aforementioned "Adam", the fruiting one, predictably, is brown turkey.

Sure i read somewhere that they fruit earlier if the roots are restricted - might this be a reason?

Mines got loads of fruit this year and its next to an apple. It's planted in a hole about 1m3 lined with several layers of landscape fabric. No doubt it will escape at some time. I neglect it.
