For what you want to do and on a budget I'd look at one of Evil Amazon's Fire HD 8 jobbies especially if you've got Evil Amazon Prime already.

You don't get the full google play store with the Amazon tablets which I see as a very big downsize.

So you approve, then?

Henry

PS I have no idea what a google play store is, and why, or why not, you would want it full (or less than full).

I do think that everything needs to work together and I think thst one of the reasons I resist Apple, as I say my wife has an iPad mini and iPhone but with android I can pick from a whole range of brands that are compatible and all link to my google account, my wife has to pay whatever Apple wantvto charge for her for the privilege of using their devices and rumors thst they are changing from the universe headphone jack to one you have to buy from Apple, that they don't use the same universal charger all other brands do and so on.

I have a Chuwi Hi12. It's dual boot android and windows 10, with full functionality in both. I also got the keyboard for it, which means it is a fully spooned up little laptop. The screen response time is a bit slower than apple or samsung, but in general I am delighted. They also do a 10 inch and 8 inch version. It was £289.

That sounds very interesting, I will have a Google and see how it fits for what I need.

Play store is where you get applications, either all of them with google or just ones Amazon list, they have improved on that score but its a limitation I don't like.

I'm not convinced that being slightly limited as to the amount of poorly written malware infested junk that you can download is a major drawback.

I only have half a dozen of the most popular apps on my tablet, and that's after owning it for 3 years so I wouldn't worry to much about that.

I don't like the Amazon tie in. It seems daft to limit yourself.

They all have limitations. You just have to choose your compromise and Axis of Evil manufacturer.

No, no , no. Only other people's choices have limitations. Someone will recommend a hamster powered ubuntu tablet soon. They're only a little bit more expensive than things that work and will eventually be able to do everything,

Hey, leave me out of this one.
I'd only suggest to get something cheap so it matters less when it gets sat on.
