One of my cucumbers has a spur branch running off it. I know with tomatoes you pinch out the side shoots so should I cut this off?

Thanks

Are you testing or growing on the ground?
How tightly spaced is it too its neighbor?
If enough space, no harm and more cukes and a bit of insurance against losing the main leader

I'm growing Slim and there is enough room for it. Thank you, I'll leave it in place.

peril of the job?

re cucs i normally let them get on with it apart from leading them to supports in suitable directions if required

feed them quite a bit and make sure they have plenty of water.

It's normal to limit cukes to one or maybe two leaders in a tight, vertical greenhouse growing situation, but on soil (or hopefully mulch) I've always let them sprawl.

I've never had much luck with them, only ever done outdoor types which I used to let sprawl

I have a surfeit of them, will probably try some trained and some just left to run riot (or not) outside.

for a less industrial style

a fairly simple hooped bender frame of hazel, ash, willow, plastic water or gas pipe etc

dangle some hairy string

works a treat, needs to be strong enough to take the plants in a wind

Thanks for all the replies.

They are growing up canes at the moment but have all reached the top. If I attach some hairy string to the top of the cane and them attach it to a loop hanging from the roof, will the cuc continue up the string?

You may want to wind them around it (gently) as they grow.
The issue is when there's fruit weighing it down
