Well after all the who-ha regarding the non-payment of my dues the chap has got his act together and paid this money through I don't know who, where or how, but £8k got into my bank account. Next thing to do is to change the account as I don't want him getting access via some nasty route as he is a wiz kid with the computer. Next thing I will be writing to him to find my digger and get it back to me from wherever he deposited it after his father gave up his farm. The digger was cheap, but I still want it, even if it does need work! I think of all the things I could have done with it over the years-at least 10. This all came about because I trusted someone, who, I discovered, once I got to work, that his lying is innate. Too late then. You are right about the digger and digging holes. I wish I had one of those things they call a child, who as a young man than me, would come and watch me till he could no longer watch, but needed to get involved! I only have about a foot to go and am relying on the water to soften the hole at the bottom, and allow me to get the rest out with the 2 handled shovel with relative ease.
I have done nothing to the agricultural side of my place for a week as the firewood is flying off the shelf so the large shed project has been shelved for a while to make sure I have sufficient kindling in stock. Today is the first day I have not needed to top the shop's stock for several weeks. They must have all switched on the heating and I can get back to putting kindling into stock. By doing this by hand I chop regularly through the summer and always think I have enough by December-ha ha.
I guess I will see you all next Tuesday, as the library has decided only to open on Tuesday and Thursday which is a pain. They don't reduce my rates when they cut services, and normally increase the price of the rates to pay their over worked personnel and the chief executive of the county council. But someone has to do the work. I wonder if the old saying that "If each before his own door swept the village would be clean" should be applied, and we could save a man and a lorry, for 5 minutes a day each? I already sweep my piece of roadside a few times a year otherwise it is a mess. |
