My greengrocer phoned me up today to warn of a huge leap in the price of Iceburgh, Tomatoes, Cuecumber and Broccili.
This is apparently because bad weather in the main producing countrys has put crops back by 2 months so instead of the supply continuing from one country to the next there will be a shortage and the supermarkets still want their share so there will be less for the rest and so prices are set to rise. Just thought i would pass it on.

I thought that broccoli, this time of year, is largely British?

Interesting post though, thanks - I'll keep an eye out. Time to sow toms and salad soon anyway!

Iceburgs were £1 each on Leeds Market last saturday - the stall holder was very apologetic and said he's only bought one box as he didn't expect to shift many.
