You know he's got his own forum don't you?

https://forum.rivercottage.net

He doesn't even look in there, can't see him making time to come here.

If you want to know his opinions on things, pick up a book in the library or watch the repeats; don't think we need 'celebrity' (they attract entirely the wrong kind of people for a place like this) to water down the debate on here.

I think this sort of highlights the point, you will actually find all sorts of nice stuff about HFW on this forum, in fact I don't think you will find anything nasty said against the bloke.
But once you do get celebrities on board there is going to be an element of people worrying not about how we develop the site, but about not pissing off either the great man or woman, or their fan base that will accumilate like flies around ....

He'd be welcome to sign up here. Can't see any reason why not.

We're already the most diverse and vibrant site covering this kind of subject area. We've got more good content (in articles and forum topics) than any other. There are some other great sites out there too; selfsufficientish is a brilliant site covering a similar area to us, 'its not easy being green' has some fun content, and of course Rivercottage has its forum section and some seasonal articles.

Go on, go and poke around in all of those sites...

https://www.selfsufficientish.com
https://www.rivercottage.net
https://www.itsnoteasybeinggreen.org

The two that stand out are Downsizer and Selfsufficientish, and thats because they're not linked to celebrity or television. Both sites are PACKED full of articles giving real, hands on advice on how to do things and they're buzzing with practical discussions on the forums. And thats because neither site exists to promote any individual or organisation; you can't ask others to give you content for free when you're then selling products or services.

At Downsizer we're absolutely free to wish people at rivercottage, selfsufficientish and itsnoteasybeinggreen every success. And wholeheartedly we do. Regulars and indeed authors of other sites like Rivercottage are welcome here, and they're welcome because they do and say interesting things.

i have to point out the case of mumsnet and the woman from the contented little baby book.
she managed to sue mumsnet, a forum, not unlike ourown, becase several people said online that her book was crap and her opinions were entirely wrong. freedom of speech and all that, those people were banned, her name was banned and she now moniters the site daily with a team of lawyers.
do we need that??

just remebered her name, gina ford i think.

We do allow people to say what they think here, within the law. So if you scan through discussions on HFW here in the past you'll see some praise, and some considered criticism. Nothing that would ne considered illegal.

Thats why we've got a modding team

Maybe he is already among us, under an assumed name Now that would be good, all of his opinions, none of the 'following'.

Mine are all done in paint shop pro. Cut to shape, then re-size to the required width and height (without changing aspect ratio).

And thanks
