Anyone ever built one? I mean gluing glass together? I know the theory, but I actually need one built in the next couple of weeks. Anyone a secret fish fancier/DIYer, please? Or know somewhere that will do the job?

My brother in law used to make tanks for keeping sand eel, lug & rag in (Bait)
All he used to do was clean the glass with meths to remove any grease & then silicon the panes together.
Depends how big a tank you want to build his were only about 3ft by 18" by 18". If you were going to build a larger one you would probably want to build a frame to withstand the pressure.

It isn't all that hard to do yourself, but it is really, really important that you use proper aquarist silicone, the normal stuff will poison your fish. Your local glass supplier will cut to exactly the right size, if you tell him what you need it for he should be able to supply the correct thickness.

What sort of sixe are you looking at?

get a helper first ...also a reel of masking tape 2 inch thick
the glass is half inch thick the base is 24x12 inch the end panels 11 x 12 inchfront and back panels 24 x 12, cut 2 pieces 2 x 23 inches for holding the lid on these to be glued 2 inches below the lip of the front and back panel 3 2x11 in pieces for the front to back supports , use glazing silicone sealant and the masking tape to hold each panel in place . start by placing the base on a blankey or suitable soft base, have a cup of cold water available , when you put a line of glue in place wet your thumb and run it along the glue .re wet your thumb as you go along ,this wil give a neat result .so we start now glue the back panel in place placing it on the base edge run a line of glue down the two edges being held in place , now do and end panel on the base and up the rear sheet edge .now do the other end panel , put the front pamel in place and now glue this on all sides allow to dry for 24 hours , next day take the 2 inch peices and glue one to each end section 1 inch from the end base by putting glue on the glas and allow to dry for a couple of minutes now place the support in place . the gap between the support and the end plates is to make it easy to empty and clean . do the other end ,use masking tape to hold them in place .allow them to dry for 3 hours and then do the front and back sections . the middle 11 x 2 piece is glued under the front and back supports and held once again with masking tape allow the whole unit to dry . i made a tank 6ft x4ftx4ft from shop doors .and varios small ones . hope this helps for .
different sized tanks just change the maths not the construction

Perhaps you are being unnecessarily pedantic?

Not really.

The poster edited his post after I commented on it and then intimated that I should have seen his edit before he wrote it.

Pedantic - no.

Perhaps you should read the posts a little more carefully?

Well I consider it very important, you may not, but it was not your post that was being questioned was it?

However, as this is your second post on this topic, then you will admit to some interest, though, frankly, what on earth it has to do with you anyway I can't imagine.
