When my father was a youngun he used to long net. It was never an option when I was younger as there wasn't enough rabbits. But now they are resistant to mixy & on the ascendent again might be an option.
Always wanted to work a lurcher to a lamp but haven't got around to it yet. Used to ferret with nets & guns when I was younger.
Wouldn't use wires as there are to many cats around here & only one of them is mine.

Trouble with that is everyone around here seems to have a Staff as a fashion accessory and I nearly lost the fingers of my left hand when I rescued my pup from the jaws of one of those

So if they're using one of those to guard little Johnnys lop-eared I'd rather leave it be

Mk 6 will do the job fine , the trouble is that it will also kill anything else that goes down there as well.

Not tried a Fenn for catching rabbits, don't you get quite a bit of bruising and internal bleeding with this method ?

E in G
Camile has just got a real bargain for himself on E bay by dumming in FennTraps on there. He's not said whether or not they've arrived yet but they seemed to be very reasonably priced.

thinking of trying snares myself.
dont like them but i reckon if i check them every few hours then that will reduce the suffering bit.
I hope it does anyway.
Mind you most rabbits around here are riddled with mixie poor things.

Once you get the hang ( sorry for the pun ) of setting snares, with rabbits a good percentage of the rabbits will be dead in the snare fairly quickly.

Its an art that I havent cared to practice for many years but if you are faced with literally hundreds of rabbits it can be a very effective way of controlling them.

if the snare is placed so as the head enters just before a hop along the game trail they often break their neck at the first moment .
get shown is better than books but there are plenty of books as well.
properly set "spring" snares are also a quick kill
beware for poor old puss please if the noose is hand high from the floor it is below pussies head and fairly safe (and that is bunnies head height when dipped for the next hop .
with lots a team effort with a long net will thin them .
i miss not having loads of bunnies locally but it is better for the allottment
