For the first time ever I have found quite a few in my garden, I think it was down to teaching the little one the dandelion clock trick last year.

Is placing a tile over them the only way to blanch them to eat or is there another way that won't flatten the plant too much?

Youcould put an empty clay pot over them. A bucket with a brick on top to stop it being blown away. Thanks for reminding me, we should also blanch a few.

Yeah, blanch them just like you would for chicory, with a pot over them. But to be honest I prefer not to, I like to pick leaves from young plants and mix them with sweeter salad leaves for contrast of shape and flavour. The combination of soft, sweet lettuce with dandelion, rocket and sorrel is great.
