ANC quoted me £24 for half a pig next day delivery. What you think of this?
Not refrigerated but packed in cool boxes with ice.

Dunno, how many boxes is that? WH charge £10 per box.

Really? Bugger. They do organic halal, which ain't easy to get hold of. Their lamb's always been good, chicken only so-so.

Should have 4 lambs going to slaughter next week, so it'll just be chicken from WH. Hopefully we'll start keeping chickens next year.

Thats for 1 25kg box containing half a pig? What you think?

The lamb probably isnt organic, or halal.
They dont pay on time, friend waited 6months for payment for his cattle.
They told another friend her lambs were condemned, when in fact they were on the lorry for london, her husband went on the lorry looked, seen his lambs then took them off. He knew they were his as his were traditional and and different shape to all the others. His lambs would have been sold as organic when they were not.
They offered me £1.10kg for my pork, then they would pass it off as organic and sell 3kgs of joints for £60+.
The bloke is a crook.

Will stop buying off him. So where do I get decent blinking poultry???

I'm happy to buy say 10 chickens at a time to make it worth sending...

As for ANC I don't see why the fact that it's meat makes any difference, goes through their network just the same as a normal box. We pay around £5.75 for a 25kg box, less for multiple boxes to the same destination but we do send out quite a lot.

I reckon a tenner or less should be doable.

I have pushed them, they said £24 is the lowest possible.
It would make half a pig delivered to your door next day £100.
I have tried all couriers, either dont do meat or charge £35ish.
think i will run a poll.
I will get details for poultry for you.

Who do Graig Farm use? We have had meat from them in the past and the delivery was very reasonable if I recall correctly

we had a similar difficulty finding a courier for a batch of 25 lambs packed for the freezer, going to East Anglia.

In the end we paid a friend who does catalogue deoliveries for a living, to take the whole lot down for us. They all went to a single drop off point for distribution which made things easier. He charged about £220 (£8.80 / lamb).

Couldnt have done it without the drop off point though.

Have you spoken to Graig Farm, just looked at their site and they manage to keep delivery prices pretty low, so they must have a decent courier lined up.

I recall them being very helpful when I wanted something not on their list, they might share their contacts if you asked nicely. There must be a solution out there

You have to ask very nicely though, I did some research on direct marketing when at college & got very poor responses from producers- they seemed to guard such information like it is a trade secret. Can't remember if Graig Farm was one on my list though, I'll have to dig my notes out.

Most couriers get much cheaper when you can guarantee regular high volume.

Join the federation of small businesses and then go for interlink.

I can deliver something with them anywhere in UK next day for less than first class recorded with royal mail. I think its about £6 roughly and weight limit of 30kg.

If you want by noon or even 9am it costs a tiny bit more - maybe £1-2

Of course not sure if they will carry food... but then need they know?

You could always order from them and then ask the courier!
