Hi

I found both of these in the garden and was wondering if anybody knew what they were.

The above was on the beech logs in my wood pile, found September time, was amazed by the whiteness of it. The cap was shiny

This second series was found in the weeds at the side of the driveway yesteday - spore print rusty brown

I looked on the Rogers site and was thinking Oudemansiella mucida for the first and some sort of Cortinarius for the second

Thanks for any suggestions[/img]

I agree for the first - porcelain mushrooms. Not sure about the second.

second mush. is volvariella speciosa-gloiocephala is the new name.I'ts the paddi-straw family, edible but not rated highly. To begin with it has a volva, so you can see the poss. confusion people from the far east have when they go mush. hunting in Europe unaccompanied!!!Adio for now

I agree that both IDs given are most likely; Oudemansiella mucida and Volvariella speciosa are good shouts.
