You've done it right. I can't help you but I'm sure someone that can will be along soon.

Daved, I don't know much about geese but I have a vague impression they moult earlier than chickens (who seem to be late summer/autumn/early winter) - a quick search on the web suggests this might be the case and I hope that by replying here one of our resident goose keepers will see your post and be able to offer more information.

Certainly "feathers all over the lawn" sounds like moulting to me but of course you want to make sure it isn't anything serious.

Our geese are moulting at the moment...they do at this time of year.

Geese are very hardy and I wouldn't worry yet.

Glad you got the help you needed Dave, there are some really helpful people here. Are you keeping the geese as layers, pets or for the meat?

Dave: nice to meet you and glad you're staying!

I've just (Sunday) got my first ducks, so I'm a poultry novice too. I get up earlier than ever before to a) check they've survived the night and b) let them out into the rain! It's just like having a new baby, when you keep checking it's still breathing! Even the old chap has taken to them, having said they were nothing to do with him.
