I'm pretty sure Alison takes credit cards. Might be worth PMing her.

Thanks

I wouldn't opt to have paypal organising popping a cherry in a brothel, to be honest my dealings with them have been extremely costly they are inefficient, lackadaisical, comms stink even when you get through to them by phone and they send out countless pre-written responses by email… not that I’m bias in anyway

i'll pm Alison Ta

Our office is less than 100 yards from Secure Trading. Doesn't help much but thought I'd let you know.

I use Streamline and they supplied everything when I was setting up and a complete novice. I still rent the machine from them and they responded well when the last one broke down - called Friday 3pm, new machine fitted by one of their staff Saturday 11am.

I also bought a mobile machine from 123 Send and set up a contract for some fairs and shows I did. I cancelled the contract a while later and still have the machine in a draw which I would be willing to part with.

The CC payments on the iPhone look interesting. That could be an option. Well worth looking into the charges to see if it would work and also see if it needs wifi. Could be a pain in the bum if it has to have a mobile phone signal to operate!

Google Checkout hasn't any setup fees, and if you advertise online, it can be cost-effective as your transaction fees can be reclaimed against the cost of Google AdWords. You can also use it to generate email invoices.

The only thing to remember is that once people have 'paid' their cards still won't be debited until you've logged in and clicked the button. Then you get the payout a few days later.

I tried PayPal but IMO this is superior.

Ta.

Google sound worth investigation, but I must admit I like the sound of streamline, I prefer tangible things when dealing with money and if they come out in person to repair problems that’s a bonus, I don’t mind paying a bit more for that level of service.

I feel securer with people in person (if only by phone) than pressing a lot of buttons onscreen when dealing with other people’s money.

As Brownbear's crash test dummy, I can say that Google checkout worked well for me as a customer. The money didn't leave my account for AGES (couple of weeks) however. I'm unsure if that's Google's fault, my bank's or BB's for not picking it up; BB, could you comment?

If you are thinking of using Streamline and in my experience they are the best, then join the FSB first. They have teamed up and offer the best deals arround on set up, rental and fees.

That was me. I didn't know (and it didn't tell me) that you have to click 'charge' after the person has 'paid' to debit the payment.

Streamline are good but charge about £250 in setup fees.

Thats sounds good for the buyer as a trader I would want your money leaving as soon as you even thought about buying something
