Hello there, just to introduce myself, im Sam and i live in Dorset. I work as a pest controller/ gamekeeper and my life revolves around shooting. I shoot clay, wildfowl, rough, game etc, etc. The gun i use most is a Browning 12b B2G game gun with 30" teaque choked barrels. I also have a selection of other shotguns. Any way enough rambling about myself.

If anyone is interested in woodcock and snipe shooting, i am a member of a syndicate that shoots in Devon every Wednesday. If any safe, keen shot wants to come for a day it costs £40.

Also have access to driven shooting in Devon for £130 per day including pub lunch. 50 birds, if the bag is larger then you dont pay a penny more!

Also goose shooting in Scotalnd. 10 out of 10. Can combine walked up grouse, rabbits , ducks etc to make a fantastic trip. Cost is £800 for 4 days.

I'm curious to know the criteria you use to measure a "keen safe shot" if he or they, throw wads of money at you?

50 birds sounds like a massacre to me Shooting for food I understand, this sounds like killing living things simply for some perverse pleasure

It depends on how many people the birds are split between (ie how many guns). 50 bird sounds like a small shoot - unless it is 50 birds each . Whilst it seems harsh pheasant shoots are a buisness and thats it - the birds get shot. At least they arn't kept in crappy conditions like chickens.

The £40 a guest goes on the forestry rent, doesn't line anyones pocket.

I think a safe shot is someone who knows and displays safety e.g . muzzle awarness, breaks the guns when crossing obstacles, checks barrels for obstructions, doesnt shoot low or swing through the line e.g.

Keen to me means someone who is enthusiastic and eager to learn and experience.

What are your problems ? Is it because i sell some shooting, because i am new to this website, shoot larger bags than some people like, your jealous etc?

There is no problem - I posted (see above) that 50 bird sounded like a small shoot - then made a joke (sorry about that eek smilie).

Then I pointed out that thats business. It is important that anyone new (and we all are really - as this site has only just started) feels happy to post what they like (as long as its not rude ect..).

What you have to understand is that you have people from all different kinds of backgrounds and with different ideas about things. Some folk have never been on a driven pheasant shoot (inc. me) so they wouldn't understand the terminology. Don't sweat it - you can help to educate. As far as selling something - good thats one of the points of the site - maybe it would be better to put an advertisment in the correct section so it won't end up being disscussed as a thread though and then this kind of misunderstanding can be avoided . Take care,

There is nothing wrong with the shooting you advertise.

Trouble is, if you post an ad like this in a debate thread, everybody including anti-shooters can take the opportunity to debate everthing about it (the cost, the ethics, is it sustainable, the location etc etc).

There is nothing wrong with advertising, but in the proper place.

I suggest you re-formulate your ads and put them in th proper place. Then people can "take them or leave them" on the terms you offer!
