not sure, only time i've worked with wooden needles was some very expensive ones that i snapped first time i tried to use them. i was really looking for bamboo unless these ones are a bit more robust ...

A kilo of dried fruit is 1.44 at the orange supermarket, and would only cost 6 or 7 to post to you! I'm sure we could work out a way to get it to you
