In what way? To modify the size? That's easy for most childrens patterns, just make it bigger in every direction proportionately! But for women it's harder IMO. If it's something else eg to change yar ...

Had two samples of elderberry dyed yarn. One was purple as just had vinegar added. Other was green as had bicarb added.

Added vinegar to samples (mordanted etc with alum).

it sounds like a new sponge bar might be needed, they only last a few years and often solve everything. That and adding more weight if you are getting skipping

I think the key thing is use the weights and keep moving them up as knitting progresses. Stops the dropped stitches which is usually the problem and just go smoothly don't jerk the 'whatsitsname' acro ...

I have a cheap toy chest made from wood shoddy enough to stick pins in. Works quite well or sofa, use pins with large heads so you can sink them right in

I'd try blocking first ie spray with water mist and pin out to dry. Then I'd try steam but holding it above it with pressing cloth
