Not backwards when coming forwards about your own cooking then?

I didn't say it was good in comparison to anyone else, just my usual cooking.

Incidentally, the wild geese I have shot haven't be that different in fat content from the farmed geese, although the legs are obviously less developed. There is obviously good grazing in Newton Stewart!

Gawd, this forum could be interesting if there was someone other than Madman and Joker who knew anything about shooting!

Yeah, the rest of us just fire blindly in the air and they die of shock,

Anyway, TC is trying to get into the sport and asking relevant questions, why not try being supportive rather than just running people down, Or perhaps you just want us to set an entrance test for posting in this section?

Come on Treaco, don't be so much of a *****, and Knock on doors!

We've all had to do it!

Shooting never falls into anybodies lap, you have to work for it, just like anything else.

Joining clubs won't help you at all!

Cheers for the advice, an attitude like that will really help the sport. So I go to a farmer and say "please can I shoot on your land and by the way I've never shot before and don't know how to use a gun". Splendid.

At least by joining a local club I now know how to use various rifles and a shot gun. I'm glad I didn't practice on live animals first as my first attempts were not that good. Now I feel ready so I thought I'd ask what people thought.

Finally please remember it's a family site.

Agree on all your points TD, I think anyone involved in shooting should be keen to get others involved in a safe and sensible way.

It's a shame that your query was met by such a peurile and negative response.

The idea of birds dying of shock when a gun goes off has me splitting my sides!

It would be clean though! Do you think it would work if you just shouted BANG loud enough?

You have to sneak up behind them for it to work,

Sorry, but this is not a tea dance! You knock on doors, you talk to people and you learn by practice.

If you get told to piss off, take it on the chin and try again.

We've all been there - and it's worked for us!

You can't get experience until you've got experience, so go out there and do it.

Tahir, I note your comments, but, considering I've been involved in shooting for 30 years, what do you know about it?

Treaco, just go and do it. You don't tell them about your limitations!

Think of it as applying for a job - sell yourself!

You'll get doors slammed in your face, but live with it, you aint 10 now!

Good luck.
